Structural Editing
Content and Organisation
A full structural edit is essential before copy editing. It
lays the foundations of the content and ensures that
the field is it covered. It ensures that the manuscript is organized
in a logical way that engages the reader.
New Structure
We assess all aspects relevant to structure, including stylistic
issues down to the sentence level. We make a recommended structure,
discuss it with you, and make adjustments. When you are happy
with the new structure, we will then move text and headings into
the new structure, and smooth out the transitions.
Finishing
We will return to you a re-organized manuscript in an electronic
file. We advise you how to proceed. You may need to write more
material, rewrite some sections and/or make stylistic changes
throughout. If you wish, we read it again. And then you may want
to request a complete copy edit and proofread.
